The MBA transformation

Recognised the world over as a sure path to career progression, choosing to study a Master of Business Administration is a big decision and a significant investment.

Program Director of UniSA’s MBA Dr Don Clifton firmly believes the investment is worth every cent.

“Studying an MBA is life-changing for many students,” Dr Clifton says.

“It is not just about the parameters of the study program itself, the value of an MBA lies as much in the discussions about business, the exploration of new global perspectives that take students out of their comfort zone and the bringing together of groups of students with their own diverse working experiences, to solve common problems,” he says.

“The best MBAs magnify students’ experiences and understanding of the business world, taking what they know already to a new level, to challenge and stretch their views and introduce new approaches to achieving goals in working life.”

His passion for the qualification is a reflection of a real commitment to delivering the best quality experience for UniSA’s MBA students.

The Graduate Management Association of Australia has rated the MBA at UniSA a five-star program for seven consecutive years, a rare endorsement Dr Clifton says can only be earned through innovation and commitment to the transformative powers of a quality MBA.

“People come to the MBA in most instances to develop their management skills and further their careers, but they graduate with a lot more than that,” he says.

“They are able to focus on aspects of organisational strategy and development that are vital for successful leadership but often underexplored in the busy work environments in which we all operate.

“They also have opportunities to hear from top business leaders and innovators, work on real world projects from industry sectors they may not be familiar with, thereby broadening their expertise and enlarging perspectives. And they do all of this in class of students who are fellow professionals, bringing their own networks and experience to the group.”

And as internet technologies have opened up the world in so many other ways, they have also provided opportunities for MBA students to sit in a truly global classroom. The UniSA MBA is also an online success story.

Flexible study options include classes delivered full-time, part-time, online, after hours, as short-term intensive sessions, or through a blend of modes making it possible to study the MBA anywhere anytime.

Typical of many MBA students CEO of Guides Dogs South Australia and the Northern Territory, Kate Thiele took advantage of the flexible study options to complete a program she believes changed her working life.

She says studying for an MBA helped her to get the job as CEO at Guide Dogs SA/NT. But it was the flexibility of study formats that allowed her to finish it while running the organisation.

“There’s absolutely no question in my mind that studying the MBA helped me secure my role here.” Kate Thiele says.
