University of South Australia Deadly Alumni - Meet the new committee

On Thursday 20 November, 2014, the University of South Australia Deadly Alumni Chapter held its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Tandanya Cultural Institute in Adelaide.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members from a wide range of graduate backgrounds attended the AGM chaired by Professor Peter Buckskin, who presented the 2014 Deadly Alumni Annual Report and welcomed the new office bearers and committee members.

After the AGM, both graduates and current students enjoyed a cocktail event, listening to music by the FlashBlacks. The members networked with university staff, guests and community partners, including Career Trackers, Tauondi College and Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME).

Nick Arundel, the newly appointed President to the Deadly Alumni, says he is looking forward to advancing Indigenous employment outcomes.

"I believe that I am well positioned to ‘value add’ by implementing long-term sustainable initiatives, profile-raising opportunities and advancing the interests of the Deadly Alumni during my term,” he says.
