25th Birthday Hawke Centre Events

May-June Calendar 2016

The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre’s calendar of 25th Birthday events in May and June features the 19th Annual Hawke Lecture, to be delivered by The Reverend Canon Mpho A Tutu, daughter of The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu of South Africa (pictured).

Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu will make an exclusive appearance in Australia for this lecture at the Adelaide Town Hall on Wednesday 15 June. An Episcopal priest, Reverend Canon Tutu is the Founder and Executive Director of the Tutu Institute for Prayer and Pilgrimage and the founding Director of the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.

She is involved in a number of other humanitarian initiatives including the Global AIDS Alliance and Chime for Change Advisory Board and she serves as Patron for the Global Children’s Radio Foundation and Women’s Achievement Network for Disability. She has co-authored two books, Made for Goodness and The Book of Forgiving, with her father.

Do You Die of Dementia? Thursday 26 May

This public forum co-presented by Palliative Care SA will discuss how we can better manage Dementia, identified as the second highest cause of death in Australia. Presenters are Professor Rod MacLeod. Senior Staff Specialist in Palliative Care at HammondCare in Sydney and Conjoint Professor in Palliative Care at the University of Sydney Northern Clinical School, and Dr Michal Boyd, a Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and a Senior Lecturer with the School of Nursing and the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Auckland.
