Alumni Update 2013 Issue 10 University of South Australia, Business School
Vice Chancellor's Christmas Message
The end of year holiday season provides a timely opportunity for us all to pause, reflect on personal achievement and focus on the challenges ahead.

Similarly, from UniSA’s perspective, it gives us a chance to look back on a year that has delivered significant change and paved the way for exciting times ahead.

A year that included the historic online consultation initiative
'unijam'– in which our alumni community played an invaluable role – and which, in turn, led to the release of our five-year strategic action plan 'Crossing the Horizon'.
Professor David Lloyd, Vice Chancellor and President, University of South Australia
Thanks to some of the feedback received through unijam, the plan includes a number of initiatives to more directly engage, recognise and celebrate our global alumni network that now numbers more than 177,000.

That includes the provision of discounted tickets to a number of 2014 Adelaide Festival performances, and Womadelaide (through the University’s role as an event partner) as well as access to study opportunities and advice, and an increasing number of social events in Australia and overseas.

Those ideas were among the possibilities discussed when I met with the presidents of our global alumni chapters recently, and attended alumni receptions in Melbourne, Sydney and abroad during the course of the year.

We are looking forward to hosting more of these events, and having the opportunity to meet and engage with greater numbers of UniSA alumni throughout 2014 and beyond. And, of course, we are delighted to receive your suggestions and input at any time.

I also look forward to formally introducing to you Deborah Heithersay, our recently appointed Director of Advancement who will be taking up her appointment in the new year to oversee our alumni relations and philanthropy plans.

In closing, I want to thank you for the support that you provide to our ongoing operations - whether through direct contributions, volunteering your time or acting as ambassadors – and I wish you, your family and your friends all the very best for the upcoming holiday season.

With best wishes

Professor David Lloyd
Vice Chancellor and President
