Australia China Alumni Awards 2011

Vice Chancellor and President of University of South Australia, Professor Peter Høj, and senior staff from the University attended the 2011 Australia China Alumni Association/CPA Australia - Australia China Alumni Awards dinner in Beijing early this month. The awards presented recognize and promote the exceptional and diverse achievements of Australian-educated university alumni who are now based in China.

Ms Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony where awards were presented in nine categories.

Winner of CPA Australia - Australia China Alumnus of the Year Award was Mr. Simon Chung, Chief Operating Officer at ChinaSoft International.

UniSA alumnus, Dr Chi Man Cartier Lam, Deputy Chief Executive, The Bank of East Asia (China) Limited, won the AustJOBS Australia China Alumni Award for Banking and Finance. Dr Lam completed two degrees at UniSA, a Doctor of Business Administration (2006) and Master of Advanced Business Practice (2004).

Well done also to the four other UniSA alumni who were among the finalists at this year's awards:

Dr. Hong Zhi Hua, Executive Vice President and Executive Director of Yanlord Land Group Ltd, Shanghai, completed a Doctor of Business Administration at the University of South Australia in 2005.

Mr. James Tan, Co-Founder of 55tuan.com, a Chinese online group buying service, completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at UniSA in 2004.

Dr. Laurens Tan, Media Artist, Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, La Trobe University, and Adjunct Professor, Digital Media, Tianjin Academy of Fine Art. He gained a Bachelor of Teaching (Art Teaching) in 1978 from SACAE-UniSA.

Mr. Zhang Shi' An, Deputy Director, Jiangxi Province, China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), completed an MBA at the University of South Australia in 2007.
