2011 Australia China Alumni Awards
Vice Chancellor and President of University of South Australia, Professor Peter Høj, and senior staff from the University attended the 2011 Australia China Alumni Association/CPA Australia - Australia China Alumni Awards dinner in Beijing early this month. The awards presented recognize and promote the exceptional and diverse achievements of Australian-educated university alumni who are now based in China.
Ms Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony where awards were presented in nine categories.
Winner of CPA Australia - Australia China Alumnus of the Year Award was Mr. Simon Chung, Chief Operating Officer at ChinaSoft International.
UniSA alumnus, Dr Chi Man Cartier Lam, Deputy Chief Executive, The Bank of East Asia (China) Limited, won the AustJOBS Australia China Alumni Award for Banking and Finance. Dr Lam completed two degrees at UniSA, a Doctor of Business Administration (2006) and Master of Advanced Business Practice (2004).
Well done also to the four other UniSA alumni who were among the finalists at this year's awards:
Dr. Hong Zhi Hua, Executive Vice President and Executive Director of Yanlord Land Group Ltd, Shanghai, completed a Doctor of Business Administration at the University of South Australia in 2005.
Mr. James Tan, Co-Founder of 55tuan.com, a Chinese online group buying service, completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at UniSA in 2004.
Dr. Laurens Tan, Media Artist, Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, La Trobe University, and Adjunct Professor, Digital Media, Tianjin Academy of Fine Art. He gained a Bachelor of Teaching (Art Teaching) in 1978 from SACAE-UniSA.
Mr. Zhang Shi' An, Deputy Director, Jiangxi Province, China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), completed an MBA at the University of South Australia in 2007.

2010 Australia China Alumni Awards
The 2010 Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) Awards winners were announced on Saturday 10 July. The University sees these awards as great recognition and understands the efforts and hard work that has gone into these achievements.

Australian Expo Pavilion 2010: Photos
The
Australian Pavilion at Shanghai's World Expo grounds was recently host to an
ACAA pre-expo tour. Over 85 Australia university graduates were
treated to this exclusive tour led by pavilion Director Peter Sams and were
able to see firsthand what has been touted as one of the best pavilions at
the expo.

UniSA wins at the 2009 Australia China Alumni Awards
Two University of South Australia alumni received awards during
the Inaugural Australian China Awards held in Beijing. The awards presented recognize
and promote the exceptional and diverse achievements of Australian-educated
university alumni who are now based in China. The University of South Australia
was the only University to have two winners on the night.
- Mr Wing Mau Hui (MBA), chairman and executive director of Shimao
Property Holdings was awarded with the
CPA Australian
Alumni of the Year.

Mr (Louis) Luqiang Qiao
, Director of International Arts Cooperation, China's National Centre
for the Performing Arts, was awarded the Australian Alumni Award for Culture and Arts.
We are also pleased to announce that Dr Hao Yalei, Deputy Director, Foreign Cooperation Administration Department, Petro China was a finalist for the Austrade Australian Award for Entrepreneurship.

ACAA Shanghai: An Evening with Kevin Wale,
President and Managing Director, General Motors, China, January 2010
On behalf of the ACAA, the University of South Australia is pleased to be able to offer our Alumni living in China the opportunity to meet with Mr Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of General Motors, China. Mr Wale has had an extraordinary experience with this global company and since 2005 has overseen the enormous expansion of General Motors in China. This Shanghai event will provide an opportunity to hear first-hand about Mr Wale's successes. ACAA Christmas parties 2009
Celebrations
rang out across the country during early and mid December at the three separate
ACAA Christmas parties held in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.The Beijing event saw around 90 Alumni, including our own Qiao Luqiang, gather at the stylish Scarlett Bar. This is the third year that this event has been hosted in Beijing and is growing in popularity.
In the city of Shanghai the lofty heights and panoramic views of the 789 Bar, located in Le Meridien on the 65th floor, where the backdrop of the celebrations and an enjoyable evening.
2009 was the first time that a Christmas party has been held in South China and saw a great response from the attendees. The event itself was held at an Australian-themed restaurant and saw the Australian Consul-General to South China attend, giving a short speech to the gathered.
