Enjoying its most successful year yet, UniSA’s Network Now dinner proves that the fine art of networking is alive and well in South Australia’s business community.
With its unique format, tight orchestration and support from over 120 high achieving business leaders, Network Now’s 240 attendees certainly got their money’s worth.
Marketing student Kate Paneros certainly made the most of sitting next to Jehad Rasheed, State Manager for Corporate Express by setting up a marketing internship to commence next month.
Similarly, the announcement by Glenelg Football Club CEO Darren Chandler that the Club is seeking a new functions coordinator resulted in a flurry of interest from attendees on the night.
UniSA’s annual networking dinner is now in its third year. Students and graduates move from table to table over three courses to meet as many of the invited mentors as possible.
As high achieving alumni and employers of UniSA graduates, the mentors get the opportunity for an early look at some of the most active graduates the institution produces.
The formula is easy. The evening is divided into three periods. Three mentors at each table remain where they are whilst graduates move from table to table in groups. At the end of each course, a bell is rung and graduates move to their next pre-set location. An open networking session is scheduled for the end of the evening for those who want to go back and follow up on possible leads.
This year, mentors included UniSA Vice Chancellor, Prof Denise
Bradley AO, Sandra Winter-Dewhurst State Director ABC, General Manager
SA/NT Coca Cola Amatil Joanne Podoliak, and Bill Spurr of the SA Tourism
Commission to name but a few.
