Can I transfer from another university and use my year 12 results?
Applications are via SATAC. If you have done one year or less of study at another university, your year 12 results will still be considered. If you have done more than two years of study at another university, entry will be based on your grade point average (GPA) unless you have a minimum Certificate IV or above TAFE qualification. This may be different in some circumstances, so please contact UniSA.
I am interested in applying for scholarships. What do I do?
There are many scholarships on offer for students who study at UniSA. Some scholarships are awarded on academic merit, some for different equity groups and there are others specific to certain programs. UniSA offers various scholarships and grants for international, domestic, undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research degree students. For full details go to UniSA scholarships and use the user-friendly legend to help you find scholarships and grants you may be eligible for.
How do I apply for credit?
The UniSA Credit Assessor gives students an estimate of how much credit they may be eligible for. Any credit not in the register will need to be discussed with the Program Director. Either attend the new student information session or make an appointment to see them.
Credit/RPL Guidelines:
- Credit is not granted for incomplete TAFE/RTO equivalent qualifications
- Previous study completed within Australia or overseas must be recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
- UniSA has a 10 year credit rule, only study completed within the last 10 years is eligible for credit
- Once accepted into the program, submitting a formal application for credit is the only way to receive credit

What are the entry pathways into studying at UniSA?
Which UniSA programs you may be eligible for will depend on what qualifications you hold. There are many different pathways into UniSA programs. Entry pathways into UniSA undergraduate programs have been designed to provide access to our programs on the basis of academic merit whilst also accounting for individual circumstances.
Students may be eligible to apply for entry to UniSA via the following pathways:
- TAFE (Technical and Further Education) or RTO (Registered Training Organisations)
- Secondary School (Stage 2 or Year 12)
- Special Entry (STAT - Special Tertiary Admissions Test)
- Previous study at a higher education institution
- UniSA Foundation Studies
- UniSA Diploma Programs
- OUA (Open Universities Australia)
- SAIBT (South Australian Institute of Business and Technology).
Alternatively, depending on your qualifications, you may be eligible to apply for a postgraduate program. To discuss eligibility you can contact Future Student Enquiries on 1300 UNI NOW.
Can I study externally and/or part-time?
Some UniSA programs offer part time study which means that students are able to enrol in less subjects than the full-time study load. Applicants apply for a program as a whole program – not as a part-time or a full-time student. Once you have been accepted, work out which lectures and tutorials you will be available to attend. Evening classes aren’t readily available.
- This means you can study 1 to 2 courses per semester (preferably 2 courses)
- Contact hours would be to a minimum
Alternatively, students may consider undertaking an external program. External students study from home and do not attend lectures or tutorials. Costs and fees are the same as internal students and students study within the same study periods as internal students.
UniSA offer a variety of programs externally:
Division of Business
- All available externally except the Bachelor of Laws and the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation
Division of Education, Arts & Social Science
- Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Cultures and Australian Society)
- Bachelor of Education (Adult, Vocational and Workplace Learning)
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Education only offered externally to applicants with Diploma in Children’s Services from TAFE or Indigenous applicants
Division of Health Sciences
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Bachelor of Midwifery
Division of IT, Engineering & the Environment
- Bachelor of IT
When do I indicate that I wish to study part time?
You will choose whether you want to study part time when you are completing your enrolment, i.e.once you have accepted your offer through SATAC. If the program you are applying for has the option of applying for an internal or external program through SATAC you should apply for the external mode at this stage. If the program you are applying for does not have this option but is offered externally, you will need to choose external mode when you are completing your enrolment.
Can I change from full-time to part-time/internal to external study?
Students are able to change from full time to part time, internal to external by changing their enrolment. Campus Central can assist with this.
