Responding to your offer

What do I do after I get an offer?

You must respond to your offer using SATAC's UniWeb by the lapse date shown on your offer letter.

To respond to your offer on SATAC’s UniWeb, select ‘Undergraduate Admissions, Semester 1 2012’, then select ‘services for current applicants’., There are six different ways in which you can respond to an offer. Page 58 of the SATAC guide provides details of the various types of responses or alternatively you can view the information on SATAC UniWeb and respond to your offer via the internet. Your reference number and password are required. Detailed information will be provided with your offer.

Should I accept an offer into a program and then try to transfer into one of my higher preference programs next year?

You can apply for programs using completed or part-completed university results. It is important to remember that transferring from one university program to another is not automatic and can be competitive. There is no guarantee that you will be offered a place.

If you have not been offered your first preference in the main offer round, you can still accept the offer with a chance of being offered your first preference in later rounds. When responding to your university offer from SATAC, you can choose to accept the offer but be considered for your higher preferences.

You have then secured a place in the course you have been offered but still have a chance in being offered your higher preferences.

You need to ask yourself if you are going to be happy completing a degree in the program that you are accepting. If the answer is no, then you may need to consider other options.

There are a number of alternate entry paths which are available, please contact Future Student Enquiries on 1300 UNINOW or (08) 8302 2376 for further information.

What is deferment?

Deferment means you are accepting your position but choosing to save your place in the program for 6 to 12 months.

Can I defer the program I have been offered?

Most programs at UniSA can be deferred, however please check with the table on pages 70-73 of the SATAC guide to make sure your program is deferrable.

If you can defer and wish to do so, you do this when responding to your offer once it has been made through SATAC.

What if I can’t defer my program?

If the program cannot be deferred and you are unable to commence your studies then you should decline the offer and re-apply to SATAC the following year. Remember, that just because you have been offered a place into a program this year, there is no guarantee you will be offered a place in future years.
