National Parks Huts
The
School of Art, Architecture and Design at the University of South Australia
designed new hut prototypes to replace huts lost
in bushfires in the national
parks of NSW, Victoria and the ACT
in 2003. While new huts may not replace the heritage value of the
original huts, the project intended to address
problems of fire as well as water storage, thermal insulation and
durability.
Innes National Park Project
The School of Art, Architecture and Design at the University of South Australia involved students in the design of new facilities for day visitors and overnight campers at the Innes National Park on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia.
Students
visited the Park during to undertake site surveys
and briefings, and present initial design proposals to National Park
officers. Final design proposals and costings were
then presented and the most suitable designs
selected. The selected designs were prefabricated
and assembled by architecture and design students through elective courses
in workshop and site construction.
