(Nominated by Jack Condous; seconded by Garrie Hisco)

My qualifications are: B Ed (Fine Art), Dip Teaching, Accredited Assessor, Certificate 4(TAA40104) assessment and workplace training, Certificate 3(TCF).

I am a practising artist, having held solo and combined exhibitions, winning prizes in watercolour and pastel painting and am proficient in watercolour, oil, and acrylic painting, pastels and all drawing media. I have exhibited in a leading Adelaide gallery and belong to a group of professional artists who meet each fortnight to practice and develop techniques in drawing and painting.

I am a member of the Royal Society of Art, SA, exhibiting successfully with this institution.

My teaching experience includes teaching art and craft for two years at the Mt Gambier TAFE and I have recently been teaching the Marleston TAFE Textiles and Footwear Certificate 3 course as a Vet course at Heathfield High School. I have delivered keynote addresses to conferences at Flinders University on Art Teaching methodologies.

I am currently Arts Coordinator at Heathfield High School and was Arts Focus school Coordinator (a state-wide position) at Seaton before this position. I delivered many workshops to other teachers and adults on different art forms and techniques in this position and conducted successful training and development sessions across the state, using both my artistic and teaching expertise. This included Aboriginal lands and groups of Aboriginal artists at Indulkana. I have constantly been asked to write documents and course for DECS, and Come out, which have been published and used across the State.

I have taught at the secondary school level both in rural and metropolitan schools for over twenty years, in recent years mostly at the Senior level. I have established a Hills Art teachers' network group, and we meet regularly to share ideas, practices and resources. I also organise a highly successful SALA exhibition for the hills schools each year.

My exemplary practices, experience and effective teaching skills are evidenced by my winning the inaugural Education and Arts Minister's Awards in 2002 for 'demonstrated excellence in arts teaching and leadership in department schools at the secondary level'.

I have taught art, craft and design at year 12 and also ICT in Digital Design, having a sound knowledge of computer graphics programs and digital imaging. I have also provided T&D in this to teachers from various faculties and from other schools.

Students in my classes being actively engaged and keen to learn and the large number who continue with the subject beyond school demonstrate my success.
