Arunkumar HG collaborative master class project

Arunkumar HG and Indian artist based in New Delhi undertook a studio residency at the South Australian School of Art (SASA) [now the School of Art, Architecture and Design] Sculpture and Installation Studios from 1 October-10 November 2007. The project incorporated two main aspects and a range of interlinked outcomes for the artist as well as students. Arunkumar HG developed a new body of work as well as conducting a master class for senior students from the South Australian School of Art and Helpmann Academy visual arts partner schools.

The theme of Light and Shadows was explored in the master class and students worked with a high degree of autonomy under the direction of Arunkumar. It was a great opportunity for the students to work alongside of an internationally recognised contemporary artist and the residency resulted in an exhibition of Light and Shadow works produced at the South Australian School of Art during November 2007.

Sculpture lecturers Steven Carson and Louise Haselton coordinated the residency which was supported by funding from the South Australian School of Art and Helpmann Academy.
