Artist statement
My works are based on my Japanese origin showing my culture and tradition and the Japanese sense. I have been thinking about my identity, my life and future staying in a different county. I have been making my works based on the Japanese origami paper shapes to show viewers part of Japan. The process of recreating the shape by clay is rethinking about what I want to do and where I want to be in the future and also about myself and what kind of person I would like to be. And further my research, I choose to express the advantage and disadvantage of the wedding focusing on creating roses. Roses are fragile and fine as a symbol of love and I leave them white to show the cleanness and pureness of love.
