Artist statement

My work is about the beauty of an ageing body which contradicts contemporary western cultures worship of youth.

This is summed up in Robert Mapplethorpes quote: We don't shy away from contemplating the twisted formation of bark on an old tree, the knots and lumps that gather on its limbs, or the mottled colours of its trunk, so why this squeamishness about aged human skin? (Goodall J, 2002 p 60)
