Artist statementKyungyi Han's work encompasses the following concepts. Put your hands together in front of your eyes and when you slightly release your two hands you can feel an empty space. There is unlimited possibility. This spotless invisible space can absorb a visible existence. My design starts from empty space and a simple line. The line is set down within itself, thus defining space as if it has a will of its own. It begins to move from emptiness as a starting point to harmonise with its surrounding space. The emptiness completes as in a fulfillment through the join with the start and the end of this line. In 2005 I enjoyed researching sculptural forms and attempted to put this idea into my art practice which functions as jewellery. It can be both worn and provide a visible aesthetic. either located on the body or beyond, as a small scale sculpture. Artist's CV (Word file 26kb) |
