Community and industry

We welcome your participation and input, and look forward to engaging with you on projects of local, national and international repute, to the benefit of community and industry.

To encourage, foster and be challenged by design discourse in the broader community, the School of Art, Architecture and Design (often in collaboration with other institutions) arranges symposia and conferences. Discourse at these events encompasses urban design and planning, architectural and urban history, the transformation of art, craft and design practices, and interior architecture education. Undergraduate and postgraduate students are encourage to attend and contribute.

The School of Art, Architecture and Design won a 2009 Chancellor's Award for Community Engagement for the Mimili Community Tawara Watiku Student Design and Construction Project. The Award recognises and acknowledges initiatives undertaken by staff and students, in partnership with communities, which promote the social, environmental, economic and cultural development of communities we work with.
