What is design in the School of Art, Architecture and Design? The School provides accreditation in four design areas: Industrial Design, Interior Architecture (Interior Design), Visual Communication Design, and Sustainable Design.
Design is a fundamental part of our visual landscape. Everything from large-scale urban environments and mass transit systems to tools for microsurgery and computer keyboards are created to a particular design format. The School of Art, Architecture and Design offers professionally recognised programs that equip students with skills in aesthetic appreciation and critical analysis, creative and lateral thinking, leadership and problem solving.
The School has particular expertise in contemporary cultural theory and design education, museum and exhibition design, furniture design, remote-area and environmentally sustainable construction, design for disability, professional management, urban design theory and practice as well as digital and information technologies within design practice. Theory and practice are integrated through the art and craft of construction.
