The third annual exhibition and award for the Constance Gordon-Johnson Prize for Sculpture and Installation consolidates the event within the university calendar as well as within the Adelaide arts community. The award recognises outstanding achievement within the Sculpture and Installation specialisation of the Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at the South Australian School of Art. One of the exhibiting artists has the opportunity to win a generous cash prize as a measure of the strength of their work however all of the artists gain significantly through the opportunity to exhibit their work within a professional context.
It is worth noting that the works on exhibition are derived from work commenced within the final year of study for the three-year Bachelor of Visual Arts degree. In some cases the artists who have been included in this show have not previously exhibited within a professional context, and as such their experience and expertise in a professional context is enhanced through their participation. The Constance Gordon-Johnson Prize exhibition establishes a great benchmark for their future endeavours.
I am excited to present the works of recent graduates from the Sculpture and Installation studio at the South Australian School of Art and I congratulate each of these artists on their contribution to this outstanding exhibition.
