Desire 2: Phantom, detail (3 of 506 panels) Pigment marker, acrylic
on wallpaper on cardboard
|
The DRAWING INSTALLATION consists of 5 multi-panel objects comprising of overall 890 small to medium size panels (cardboard panels, mounted with wallpaper, and drawn on top with pigment markers).
These drawn panels make up a bit larger than life, stylised profiles of objects 'of desire' based on real items:
Phantom - a new model of Rolls Royce
Beo
(triptych) - Bang & Olufsen sound system:a console + two speakers
Yohji - an outfit by a designer, Y.Yamamoto, Spring Collection 2007
SIMILITUDES ( sound-images) All objects within the installation incorporate sound components. While the line I draw is a visual translation of our ability to look and see, the sound is an aural translation of the same. Using musical notation I made an inventory of the visual appearance of original desire objects. Configurations of different notes positioned on multiple musical staffs, form codes archiving the appearance of the particular object. I worked with a composer, Alistair Noble of ANU School of Music, Canberra, who made 'translation' of my 'notes' inventory of visible' into digital sounds.
