Student work and experiences - Sustainable Design
Amanda Mardell
Master
of Sustainable Design
With a background in Architecture I enrolled in the Masters of Sustainable Design in order to specialise and focus my career in a way that would be meaningful and rewarding. In the last couple of years I have had a growing interest in sustainability, and this course has provided an amazing opportunity to explore some of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
Being a designer it is important to be at the cutting edge, updated with the right tools and knowledge of the industry, and how it fits within the bigger picture. It is becoming clear that sustainability will be an increasing focus in all industries, and the knowledge and skills required to create a sustainable future will become indispensable in any creative career.
Covering all creative disciplines, this course takes a holistic approach to sustainability. It covers issues from the global effects of government and corporate policies to the efficacy of individual and collective actions, right down to the full impact of product life cycles.
This course is equipping me with the practical skills and real-world knowledge to make a positive difference in my career, while giving me plenty of inspiration to sustain my passion for good design.
