Once upon a time at IKEA
A
collaborative project between UniSA and IKEA called Once upon a time
at IKEA brought together 18 teams of undergraduate
Visual Communication Design
and Industrial Design
students from the School of Art, Architecture and Design.
The project brief was to create a children's story and build the central character or characters using IKEA products. In keeping with IKEA's universally understood product instructions, the stories had to be told using only images or symbols.
IKEA Adelaide Store Manager Agneta Simon said, 'This project highlights the ability of the students to generate new ideas and apply design principles. IKEA is the home of good design and our partnership with UniSA is based upon helping to foster the talent of emerging designers. This is one of a number of projects between IKEA and UniSA.'
The exhibition of stories and characters from Once upon a time at
IKEA was held at the IKEA Adelaide store from 7-21 September 2009.
Course/project coordinators for the project are Luci Giannattilio (Visual Communications) and Esther Ratner (Industrial Design).
