Zero Waste SA Pam Keating Memorial ScholarshipThe Zero Waste SA Pam Keating Memorial Scholarship has been established in memory of Pam Keating, a noted environmentalist and waste management expert who passionately believed in the importance of reducing waste and its impact on our environment.  The scholarship is available to full-time students undertaking an Honours or Masters program in an area of interest to the Zero Waste SA Research Centre for sustainable design and behaviour (sd+b). 

Priority research areas

Areas of interest include behaviour change and resource efficiency with eligible applicants required to choose a topic from the following:

Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit  and an interview.  Applicants must provide a  written statement with their application outlining  the research to be undertaken;  their career goals and future plans ; and how the scholarship will help achieve their ambitions.  A project summary from the applicant's supervisor containing a detailed description of the project and its outcomes should also be included.

The recipient must have the ability to be a positive ambassador for the objectives of Zero Waste SA. They will be offered six hours of informal mentoring or in-kind assistance by Zero Waste SA and may also have the opportunity to undertake paid employment at Zero Waste SA during the summer vacation period.

Value: $10,000 to be paid in two instalments of $5,000 after the study period 2 and study period 5 census dates.  The recipient will also receive an offer of mentoring and possible paid employment at Zero Waste SA during the summer break.


 

The Zero Waste SA Research Centre sd+b Student Prize 2012

The Zero Waste SA Research Centre sd+b Student Prize 2012 recipient is:  

Ms Aida Leon

She is undertaking a Master of Sustainable Design, in the School of Art, Architecture & Design.

Her research topic: 'Innovative Strategies to foster resilience within high vulnerable Australian suburbs'.

Aida is the 1st recipient of this student prize, value $2,000. Thank you to the members of the Selection Panel.
