Public Lecture - Urban Systems
Thursday 17 May 2012. Prof J. Alexander Schmidt, Germany

J. Alexander Schmidt studied City Planning and Architecture (University Stuttgart) and Environmental Psychology/Urban Design (UC Berkeley).  He holds the Chair in Urban Design at the Institute of City Planning + Urban Design and is director of the University's Joint Centre for Urban Systems at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.  

The institute's research is focussing on the following topics:

His consulting and design practice covers national and international urban developments and urban design. He was a visiting professor at the University of Oregon, Portland and the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. J. Alexander Schmidt will be a Visiting Scholar, funded by the DAAD, at the sd+b Centre at UniSA from 15 to 30 May 2012.

His institute is located at: University Duisburg-Essen, Faculty of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Building Sciences, Institute of City Planning + Urban Design, D-45117 Essen.

Annual Researchers Colloquium on Sustainable Design

This 'Researchers and PhD Student Colloquium' is a one-day Forum for early career researchers, to present their research and to get to know other early career researchers working on similar PhD topics.
PhD students and Researchers have been invited to give a 10 minute presentation each on their current research in the field of Climate Change and Sustainable Urbanisation, Cities and Energy-efficient Design.

The 'Researchers Colloquium' is a one-day Climate Change Networking Workshop and Forum for early career researchers, to present their research and to get to know other early career researchers.
PhD students and Researchers have been invited to give a 10-12 minute presentation on their current research in the field of Climate Change and Sustainable Urbanisation/Design.
An invited expert panel will give comments to all presented research.
