Icon Project
Adelaide: Fire and Natural Hazards
This Icon Project will produce the third book in a series focussed on the
Adelaide environment and how people interact with it. The first two books
were
Adelaide: Nature of a City
and Adelaide: Water of a City.
The new book will focus on the natural
environmental events and characteristics that shape the community. These
issues include fire, earthquake, flood (sea and rainfall), drought, climate
change, disease, plague, pestilence, poisonous and venomous animals and
plants. It will also contain information about the effects of population growth and resource
limitation on the Adelaide community. The goal of
this multidisciplinary work is to inform the community and Government and
private sectors on issues such as: creating environmentally relevant
communities, risk management, energy management and disaster planning.
