An integrated model for the assessment of urban sustainability
T
his project critically examines current best practice urban
infrastructure models to build an integrated tool to assess sustainable
development. It also addresses the under-researched tensions between the
social, economic and environmental impacts on urban infrastructure
development in relation to a multi-site case study. The project's goal
will be to build a model capable of identifying risks to sustainable
development early in the planning process. Our tool will address urban
growth and its inter-relationship with infrastructure systems and
services, including transport, energy, water, affordable housing,
education and other land-use issues in relation to case studies of urban
development.
This project is funded by the the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project scheme for three years (2008-2011); Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure; Department for Families and Communities (DFC); Planning SA; City of Onkaparinga
