An integrated model for the assessment of urban sustainability

TUrban Sustainabilityhis project critically examines current best practice urban infrastructure models to build an integrated tool to assess sustainable development. It also addresses the under-researched tensions between the social, economic and environmental impacts on urban infrastructure development in relation to a multi-site case study. The project's goal will be to build a model capable of identifying risks to sustainable development early in the planning process. Our tool will address urban growth and its inter-relationship with infrastructure systems and services, including transport, energy, water, affordable housing, education and other land-use issues in relation to case studies of urban development.

This project is funded by the the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project scheme for three years (2008-2011); Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure; Department for Families and Communities (DFC); Planning SA; City of Onkaparinga
