Setting out of office assistant

The out of office assistant in Microsoft Outlook sends an automatic reply email to incoming messages (internal and external recipients) during your absence.
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Go to Tools menu
  3. Select Out of Office Assistant
  4. Click on I am currently Out of the Office radio button
  5. Enter the text that you wish to appear in the email of your AutoReply
  6. You are able to include Rules, if you wish (ie. move particular e-mails to folders within Outlook)
  7. Click OK button

Disabling out of office assistant

To remove your Out of Office Assistant, select I am currently In the Office in step 4 of the Out of Office Assistant window.

You can also tell if your Out of Office Assistant is on by one or both of the following options. These are displayed while in Microsoft when you enter Outlook after you turn on the Out of Office Assistant. Simply click on the balloon to see the Out of Office options.
