Professor Kerry Jacobs
December 14th - December 15th 2009
- Professor Kerry Jacobs had a successful visit with CAGS
in December 2009 and in the short time he was here he was
able to mentor staff and research students and discuss their
projects – the formal appointments included:
- Professor Roger Burritt,
- Professor Lee Parker,
- Associate Professor Glen Lehman,
- Susan Lambert,
- Mei Lin Toh, and
- Joanne Tingey-Holyoak.
- These formal appointments included follow-up contact
scheduled for Professor Jacobs’ return visit in April 2010
in order to facilitate an ongoing mentoring experience.
- Informal discussions in hallways and non-scheduled
meetings with additional staff members allowed for casual
yet beneficial research discussions facilitating the
cultivation of a positive research culture in CAGS.
- Professor Jacobs also reviewed multiple journal articles
with staff and provided feedback and guidance to improve the
potential for publishing and met with Director and Deputy
Director of CAGS to further PhD research capacity and
growth.
- Professor Jacobs Delivered a research seminar on the use
of theory in public sector research to a full room on
Tuesday 15th December. For researchers with interests in
qualitative research, the use of theory or public sector
