Career Advice

Career Development Planning is an essential ingredient which will compliment your university studies. If you need advice on developing your own career plan or assistance to discover what career path/options are right for you, then career advice is what you need.

We can also provide help with your job search strategy, applying for jobs, developing a resume/cover letter, or preparing for an upcoming job interview. Furthermore you might simply need advice to find your own work placement.

Career Services have a range of services that can help you:

Self-Help Career Resources**

Resume Writing Workshops*

UniSA Career Services has an extensive suite of online resources to help and guide you to make decisions on your career pathways. There are useful tools to help you develop a resume, cover letter and prepare for an upcoming interview, including an interactive interview simulator. There are many other tools available such as career and self-assessment tests, developing your elevator pitch, and videos of real employers’ advice on their views on finding the right job. You can also access our universal Job Search Engine to find your dream job! Please click here to access your online resources and explore what’s available. Attend a workshop on campus and you will be provided with the knowledge to create a quality resume, ensuring that it is appropriate for the field you are looking to get into (even for part-time work). To book a place, log in to UniSA CareerHub and search in 'Events' for 'Resume Writing'.

CareerShop Drop-Ins*

Career Adviser Appointments*

For quick resume/cover letter checks, advice on where to look for jobs or placements, and suggestions on how to build your experience as well as tips and hints on preparing for an interview, feel free to visit the staff at CareerShop at City West, or staff at CareerShop Drop-In points, located at various campuses. For more information, please click here. If you have questions or need guidance on career development/pathways, change of program or course, choosing an elective or want to develop a job search plan, please book an appointment with a Career Adviser. You can book a face-to-face or phone appointment, and you will need your student ID to make an appointment online.

You can book up to four weeks in advance, which is a good idea during busy periods of the year when appointments fill up quickly.

Note:
* These services are available to students for up to 12 months after graduation.
** Our Alumni also have access to our new Self-Help Career Resources for an indefinite period.
