2010 Vice Chancellor's Award for Professional Staff Excellence

UniSA Careers Services staff with the Vice ChancellorIn 2010 UniSA Career Services was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award for Professional Staff Excellence for the work involved in delivering Career Management Skills into programs across all Divisions. Career Management Skills have been embedded with a 'program wide' view rather than a course view to ensure appropriate material is developed across all years of the programs.

The Career Management Skills package is delivered as a part of the academic curriculum, not as an 'add-on' to the program. By locating this within the program brings credibility to the content, enables it to be made relevant to the professional context of the program, and addresses a much greater number of students than is possible through individual or small group contact outside the program. Using the Career Management Skills model, all students within a program gain knowledge and understanding of career development as part of their degree and benefit from structured activities incorporating self reflection via either e-portfolios or formal assessment.
