Introductory career resources for academic staff
The following is a selection of resources that can assist you in sourcing career-related information in your discipline area and can be shared with students in your teaching.
MyFuture
One of the better tools for researching current information about occupations is an Australian Government website called MyFuture. The website is easy to navigate and you can do a quick occupational search by:
- going to the menu bar at the top of the web page
- selecting "occupation" in the left hand drop-down box
- then type in the occupation of interest in the "keyword search" box
From here, MyFuture will provide you with a range of information about the occupation including:
- skills required for the job
- work conditions
- links to related jobs
- a link to current labour market information
- a link to courses of study that are available in SA and interstate
- SA specific information
Graduate Careers Australia
Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) is the leading authority on graduate employment issues in Australia. GCA produces a range of graduate-related publications and research that informs students, employers and careers practitioners about industry and salary trends, graduate employment opportunities and career development.

Australian Graduate Survey
- This is an annual national survey that examines new graduates' activities four months after completing the requirements for their higher education degree. The AGS comprises the Graduate Destination Survey (GDS), and the Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) or Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (PREQ).

Beyond Graduation Survey
- This survey was developed to follow-up with graduates three years after they completed the AGS. The primary aim of the BGS is to investigate the impact that these interceding years have on graduates' post-study activities.

- The Graduate Outlook Survey (GOS) investigates graduate recruitment practices and trends in Australia and New Zealand via an annual bi-national survey of graduate recruiters and employers.
