Conference focus on integrating support for children and families

Leisha Olliver and Michael White will be presenting at the Children Communities Connections conferenceStaff from UniSA's Australian Centre for Child Protection will share insights from the latest research into supporting vulnerable children and families as part of the Children Communities Connections Conference at City West campus on 25-26 November.

The conference will feature a keynote address by the Centre's Director, Professor Marianne Berry, and presentations from Centre staff on the Building Bridges Between Services, Building Capacity Within Services project, children and homelessness, and information sharing.

Co-sponsored by the Australian Centre for Child Protection, the conference has a central theme of 'developing effective integrated support for children and their families', reflecting the need for greater collaboration between the numerous services accessed by children, parents and families.

"Reports and reviews into service provision are saying that better collaboration across the entire system will result in better outcomes for children," says the Centre's Workforce Development Leader, Michael White.

"This conference is walking the walk by bringing together key practitioners, researchers and policy makers from across the community service, education and health sector spectrum to talk about what's already being done - and what more can be done - to boost cooperation and prevent vulnerable children from falling through the cracks."
