Professionals Protecting Children, Nurturing and Protecting Children: A Public Health Approach

Governments in many jurisdictions are striving to go beyond responding to the problem of child abuse and neglect policies based only on 'identify and notify' measures and are building the capacity of all service providers in prevention and early intervention. Now, more than ever, nurses and midwives are especially well placed to enhance the wellbeing of children and families given the range of acute and primary care settings in which they work, and their trusted and respected role in the community.

The Australian Centre for Child Protection is excited to announce the timely re-launch of the Professionals Protecting Children, Nurturing and Protecting Children: A Public Health Approach manual and accompanying DVD. The resources have been designed to support nursing and midwifery students and practitioners to develop the values, knowledge and skills necessary to prevent child abuse and neglect and enhance the ability of families to nurture their children. Based on both research and the practice experience of nurses and midwives, the Centre hopes the evidence-based resources will stimulate and inspire those who use them.

Both the manual and the DVD material have been converted to web-based resources, found below:
