Language Studies strand, Honours
In order to graduate, Honours students in the Language Studies strand
complete:
-
Project Development (SOCU 4001), a course taught intensively
over two weeks in February, which covers issues relating to carrying
out research and writing an Honours thesis.

Contemporary Social and Political theories (SOCU 4002), taught
during study period 2 (first half of year), through a series of
seminars focussing on different theories.
- Two other 4.5 unit courses selected in consultation with the
Program Director + your thesis supervisor, from relevant courses at
level 3 and above, university-wide or at another university by
cross-institutional enrolment. these courses will normally be in:
- Applied Linguistics (any electives)
- French (4A, 4B if not already taken)
- Italian (4A, 4B if not already taken; or Italian Studies
Honours 1,2)
- Japanese (4A, 4B if not already taken)
- another language
- An 18,000 word thesis, which is developed in consultation with a
supervisor, who is a staff member of the School of International
Studies with research expertise in an appropriate area. See
