Program aim

To develop students' knowledge of advanced theory and practice in an academic specialisation and to develop students' abilities to undertake informed and critical analysis and original research under supervision at Honours level.

Program overview

Honours programs are provided by the School of International studies in: 

Students who have completed a major in areas such as Applied Linguistics, Asian Studies, International Studies, languages (especially French, Italian or Japanese) or Sociology, at any university, with a credit average, may take the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program.

Students normally complete the degree in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study. Part-time students normally take coursework courses in the first year and the thesis courses in the second year.

All Honours students in the School do two required courses, two electives which are chosen to complement their research interests, and an 18,000 word thesis. For more precise information, please see the detailed pages on the three separate streams:
