Prizes, Awards and Scholarships for School of Commerce students

The School of Commerce has many corporate sponsors who make generous yearly donations to sponsors prizes, awards, scholarships and grants awarded to students of the Commerce. This initiative allows for engagement between current students and industry as well as a motivator for high achievement.

Prizes and Awards

Students currently enrolled in School of Commerce programs or students who have recently completed their School of Commerce program are eligible for prizes and awards. The prizes and awards are awarded for outstanding achievement in the previous academic year. Many prizes and awards are offered to local and international students, though some are restricted to Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia. The School's current prizes and awards are outlined below along with their  sponsors.

Australian Taxation Office Award
The Australian Taxation Office Award is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, with the most outstanding academic performance in ACCT 3002 Taxation Law 1 and ACCT 3006 Taxation Law 2.
Value: $1,000

BankSA Prize for Finance Investment
The BankSA for Prize Finance and Investment is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course BANK 2005 Finance and Investment.
Value: $500

BankSA Prize for Business Finance
The BankSA Prize for Business Finance is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course BANK 2007 Business Finance
Value: $500

Business SA Prize (Enterprise and Business Creation)
Awarded to the most outstanding student in the course Enterprise and Business Creation. To be eligible for this award, students must be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $600 voucher to attend any Business SA training courses, workshops or forums, plus a commemorative certificate

Colliers International Second Year Property Prize
The Colliers International Second Year Property Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program and studying in Australia, with the most outstanding academic performance in AGEN 2002 Property Utilisation and Sustainability, ECON 2011 Property Market Analysis, BUSS 2050 Property Agency.
Value: $500 plus a commemorative certificate

CPA Australia - Jack Harrison Memorial Award
The CPA Australia - Jack Harrison Memorial Award is awarded to student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program and studying in Australia, who obtains the highest marks for the courses ACCT 1008 Accounting for Business and ACCT 1006 Financial Accounting 1.
Value: $500

CPA Australia Postgraduate Prize
The CPA Australia Postgraduate Prize is awarded the student who obtains the highest grade point average upon completion of DBMS Master of Business (Professional Accounting) program.
Value: $500

CPA Australia Prize for Global Issues for Accounting and Issues in Accounting Theory
The CPA Australia Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, with the most outstanding academic performance in BUSS 3017 Global Issues in Accounting and ACCT 3003 Issues for Accounting Theory and is also enrolled in a School of Commerce program.
Value: $500

CPA Australia Prize for Taxation Law 1
CPA Australia Prize for Taxation Law 1 is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, with the most outstanding academic performance in ACCT 3002 Taxation Law 1.
Value: $500

CPA Australia Young Professionals Award
The CPA Australia Young Professionals Awarded is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 3007 Financial Accounting 3.
Value: $500

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Prize
Awarded annually to the student with the best academic performance in the course Global Issues for Accounting. To be eligible for this prize, students must be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $500

Ernst & Young Prize
The Ernst and Young Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program and studying in Australia, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 1008 Accounting for Business.
Value: $500

Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) Award
The Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) Award is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest marks for the courses BANK 3004 Portfolio and Fund Management and BANK 3009 Corporate Valuation and Risk Management.
Value: $500 plus a commemorative certificate

Gary Lindblom Memorial Prize
Awarded by the Australian Property Institute (SA Division) to the student with the highest grade point average over three years of the Bachelor of Business (Property) program. For students who reside in Australia.
Value: Gold medal plus $500

John Wiley & Sons Australia Book Prize
The John Wiley & Sons Australia Book Prize is awarded to the two students, enrolled in School of Commerce Programs, who obtain the highest marks for the course BANK 2008 Financial Planning.
Value: $500 book voucher plus commemorative certificate.

Jones Lang LaSalle Award
The Jones Lang LaSalle Award is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the most outstanding academic performance in BUSS 3057 Advanced Property Valuation and MGMT 3002 Statutory Valuations.
Value: $500

Knight Frank Prize
Awarded to the student for the most outstanding academic performance in the Property Investment Course. All applicants must be either Australian citizens or have permanent residency status. Eligible students for this prize must be studying in Australia (onshore) internally. Persons currently studying externally may apply provided they reside in South Australia.
Value: $600 cheque and (subject to availability) a part-time opportunity for a work placement within the company

Lewis Barrett Prize
Awarded to the graduand with the best academic performance in the Bachelor of Commerce professional stream courses of Auditing Theory and Practice and Taxation Law 1. To be eligible for this prize, students must be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $500

LexisNexis Prize for Corporations and Partnership Law
Awarded to the most outstanding student in the course Corporations and Partnership Law. To be eligible for this prize, students must be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: Six months online subscription to LexisNexis Encyclopaedic Australian Legal Dictionary

LexisNexis Prize for Property Law
The LexisNexis Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course COML 2003 Fundamentals of Property Law.
Value: Six months online subscription to LexisNexis Encyclopaedic Australian Legal Dictionary

McGraw-Hill Australia Prize
The McGraw-Hill Australia Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 3003 Issues in Accounting Theory.
Value: $500 book voucher

Pearson Australia Prize
The Pearson Australia Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course BANK1005 Derivatives and Securities Markets.
Value: $500 book voucher

Pitcher Partners Prize
The Pitcher Partners Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in either DBCC Bachelor of Commerce, DBBF Bachelor of Applied Finance or DBCD Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Applied Finance, who obtains the highest marks for the courses ACCT 1006 Financial Accounting 1, ACCT 2005 Financial Accounting 2 and ACCT 3007 Financial Accounting 3.

Property Council of Australia Prize
The Property Council of Australia Prize is awarded to the best student in the course BUSS 3032 Property Development. To be eligible the student must be enrolled in a School of Commerce program and be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $500

PwC Prize
The PwC Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 2005 Financial Accounting 2.
Value: $500

Real Estate Institute of South Australia Prize
The Real Estate Institute of South Australia Prize is awarded to the best student in the course BUSS 2050 Property Agency. To be eligible, the student must be enrolled in a School of Commerce program and be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $500

RP Data Prize
Awarded to the best student in the course Introduction to Property and Valuation. To be eligible for this prize, students must be studying in Australia (onshore).
Value: $3,518 monetary equivalent

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Prize
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 2006 Management Accounting.
Value: $500

South Australian Auditor-General's Department Prize for Auditing Theory and Practice
The South Australian Auditor-General's Department Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 3005 Auditing Theory and Practice.

South Australian Auditor-General's Department Prize for Government and not for Profit Accounting
The South Australian Auditor-General's Department Prize is awarded to the student, enrolled in a School of Commerce Program, who obtains the highest mark for the course ACCT 2008 Government and not for Profit Accounting.

Scholarships and Grants

There are also a number of scholarships and grants available to current student students and students looking to complete Honours study with the School of Commerce. All of these scholarships and grants must be applied for via the myUniSA student portal and in most cases will require applicants to submit their academic transcript and answer a number of questions and to attend a selection panel interview. Details of the scholarships and grants offered to School of Commerce students can be found below. 

AMP Financial Planning Grant
Awarded to a student enrolled in either the Bachelor of Applied Finance or Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Applied Finance double degree program at the end of their second year of studies.
Value: $5,000
How to apply: Apply online through myScholarships on the myUniSA portal. Applications are open from mid February to mid March each year.

CRMA Grant
Awarded annually to an outstanding final year student who has completed relevant third year School of Commerce courses and who is accepted into the honours program and who will write the honours thesis on some aspect of market regulation.
Value: $5,000
How to apply: Apply online through myScholarships on the myUniSA portal. Applications close 30 November each year to coincide with Honours applications.

Goodman Grant
Awarded to a student enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Business (Property) Program at the end of their first year of studies who has a strong interest in the property market.
Value: $1,000
How to apply: Apply online through myScholarships on the myUniSA portal. Applications are open from mid February to mid March each year.

Kevin Benger Community CPS Scholarship
Awarded to a commencing Australian citizen or permanent resident student, either full-time or part-time, who is undertaking an undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting) or Applied Finance.
Value: Up to $20,000. Full-time students will receive $5,000 per year (paid in two instalments) for a maximum of four years. Part-time students will receive $2,500 per year (paid in two instalments) for a maximum of eight years.
The recipient may also be offered the opportunity to undertake paid work experience at Community CPS Australia during vacation breaks.

School of Commerce (Honours) Scholarship
Awarded to the student who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Business (Honours)/Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Program with a research focus in any discipline offered by the School of Commerce. Up to 6 scholarships are available each year.
Value: $10,000 per full time student
