System Design and Analysis
The System Architecture and Design Theme (SAAD) is predominantly involved in research into modelling and simulation of complex systems and the interaction between real and synthetic environments. Areas of focus for this theme include:
- Model based systems engineering;
- Experiential learning using mixed real and simulation systems;
- Robotics, unmanned vehicles, machine vision;
- System architecture design;
- Exploiting modelling and simulation to understand complex systems;

Model-based Systems Engineering Research This research is sponsored by Maritime Operations Division of DSTO. The research aims to investigate the application of software agents to represent human processes in Model Based Systems Engineering. Expected benefits are improved systems engineering processes which will be introduced to the profession by UniSA courses and through Industry participation with DSTO planned MBSE development efforts. |

Agent-based models of behaviour for systems engineering organisations This research is sponsored by the Defence Systems Analysis Division of DSTO. The research aims to investigate the application of software agents to represent organizational processes within the Capability Development Group (CGD) Capability Development Process. Expected benefits are development of a tool for the improved management of systems engineering based organizations. Although this research focuses on CDG, its general approach and most of the methods developed will be applicable to other types of organizations. |

Distributed autonomous vehicle stimulator architecture The DAVSA system emerges from swarm robotics research and implementation, and it offers an insight into swarm robotics using collaborative robot behaviour to carry out search/rescue and or disarm missions. DAVSA system will incorporate a real time Agent Base Model (ABM) in order to control and interact with robots. |
