Careers and employment
Career Services can provide information about planning your career, networking, work experience, the annual careers fair and many other resources. Disability Services provides some additional support for students with disabilities and these programs are outlined below.
Willing and Able Mentoring Program (WAM)
- WAM matches university students with disabilities, with mentors in the professional area in which the student is interested
- A half day workshop describing what the WAM Program is all about, communication and networking skills, and ideas about disclosure of disability
- A series of 8 x one to two hour mentoring sessions in the mentor's workplace
- Debriefing and certificate presentation event at the conclusion of the program
Through WAM, students have gained confidence and clarity about their career direction, developed valuable networks with professionals in their field of interest, and increased interview and resume writing skills.
Contact the Disability Adviser on your campus for more information about WAM.
Career Success Workshop for students with disabilities
The Career Success workshop involves:
- Information about career planning, confidentiality and disclosure
- Information provided by key employers
- Annual half day workshop in the second half of the year.
