This scholarship program promotes the pursuit of justice and human rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians through the education of young Indigenous people in these fields, enabling the continuation of the advocacy work so courageously and passionately pursued by the late Robert Riley.
Four scholarships of up to $5,000 each will be awarded to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged up to 30 years for the pursuit of studies in the fields of law, human rights and juvenile justice.
The primary criteria used to assess applications are merit and financial need. However, the committee will also consider the extent to which it feels an applicant will fulfil the aims of the program and the future benefits the applicant will bring to the community.
