Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship

Gavin Wanganeen with the 2009 Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship recipient, Wendy BarthThis scholarship is open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students of the University of South Australia who are enrolled in any undergraduate program.

Gavin Wanganeen is the first Aboriginal to receive an AFL life membership for playing 300 official matches. He is also a premiership star, Brownlow medallist, five-time All Australian and Best-and-Fairest winner with Port Adelaide Football Club. Gavin Wanganeen is a role model and representative for Indigenous youth in Australia and UniSA is the only university in Australia which has identified a commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education in its charter.

The selection criteria for the Gavin Wanganeen Scholarship will take into consideration students' academic results, community activity and chances of success as a university student.

 

Closing date:  31 March each year

Value: $5,000 per annum
