Psychology is not just for psychologists. The science of how people and animals behave, misbehave, think, learn, react and even sleep raises as many career opportunities as it does challenging situations and curly questions.
Human resources, counselling, advertising, marketing, youth work, training, crime prevention, consumer research, community development and social welfare all require a professional understanding of behaviour and social interaction and the ability to adapt to any given situation.
I have always wanted to help people and felt that psychology would enable me to do this. I am interested in human behaviour and this program seemed a perfect way to pursue my interests whilst leading on to a career I will enjoy.
That's where UniSA's flexibility is all important. Our three-year Bachelor of Psychological Science and four year Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) combine core Psychology studies, core counselling courses and your choice of a minor study, allowing you to combine the subjects you need to gain the necessary skills. You might choose additional Counselling and Interpersonal Skills for example, HR, Management, Marketing, Public Relations, International Relations, Sociology or a language. We also have double degrees with Law, and Human Services.
Only at UniSA can you combine your psychology studies with counselling as well as a final year work experience placement where you can put your new skills into practice.
If you dream of being a professional psychologist you can apply directly for the four-year Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) or earn yourself an Honours year place via the Bachelor of Psychological Science. It's a popular and competitive pathway, but ultimately rewarding.
And whichever route you choose, you'll develop the skills in logical critical thinking and verbal and written communication skills that make Psychology graduates so employable.
Our programs are nationally accredited and highly respected and provide practical applications through research projects, work placements and community engagement. If you like working with people, you'll love Psychology.
