Minor choices (previously General Studies) in the MBET Primary &
Middle Specialisation
Primary and Middle students are required by their program to undertake 8
Minor courses. Minor courses prepare students to teach
two learning areas as a teacher in year 8 and 9 and/or to take up the role
of a curriculum leader in a Primary School. Learning areas align with
subject areas taught in schools e.g.: Society and Environment, English,
Mathematics, The Arts (Visual and Performing), Science, Technology
(including Design and Technology, IT, Home Economics), Languages, Health and
PE. There are some cross-curricular areas that may also be taken including
Teaching English as a Second Language, Lutheran studies
or Catholic studies.
Students can do 4 courses in one learning area (eg. Maths) and 4 in
another (eg. PE)
We know that choosing a Minor sequence in the Primary and
Middle program can be complex for new students. The following word documents
