Selecting a Destination

Where can I study and what courses can I study?
UniSA has established links with universities worldwide. You may choose from a range of universities and countries depending on your discipline area and cultural interests. Please refer to our exchange partners (129kb PDF) for a list of UniSA's exchange partners. To find out more about the institutions listed click on the name of the institution in the exchange partners document and you will be taken directly to their website. Please do not contact the host institutions direct, if you require information that is not listed on their website ask UniSA International staff for help.
For practical tips and suggestions have a look at the returned student reports written by past exchange students. Once you have completed your research you should discuss your exchange plans with your Program Director for initial confirmation that you will receive credit for the courses you wish to study while on exchange.
Do I need to apply for a visa?
Every country has different student visa requirements and application processes. Some countries such as the US require students to travel to Melbourne for a visa interview. More information on visas (36kb PDF)
How many courses do you need to study at the partner university?
Each partner university calculates course loads and credit differently so you will need to negotiate with your Program Director to determine how many courses at the partner university are equivalent to either 13.5 or 18 UniSA units. Some guidelines are listed in the Credit Equivalencies document (177kb PDF) however the final course load will be at the discretion of your Program Director. You must complete the equivalent of a minimum of 13.5 UniSA units and maximum 18 UniSA units while on exchange.
How long can students study overseas?
You can select to study either 1 or 2 study periods (semesters) as part
of your exchange program. Therefore the time of exchange will be either 6
or 12 months duration. Places at some partner universities are limited due
to high interest therefore you may not always be accepted for the 12 month
option.
Where can I find accommodation?
Accommodation for exchange students varies depending on the country and Partner University. There may be on campus accommodation in residence halls, home stay options or you may have to rent an apartment off campus. Each partner university has some type of housing service so your accommodation can be organised before you leave Australia. Check the partner university's website and read returned student reports to get an idea of where previous students have lived.
