Short Term Opportunities
International Study Options, Placements and Other
Opportunities (non partner)

Short term international study opportunities are arranged by the student. If the Program Director agrees to provide the student at least 4.5 units of credit and they meet the criteria (PDF), students may be eligible to receive a travel grant towards expenses. This type of opportunity is open to undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) students and is usually shorter than a semester exchange. The exchange team does advertise a small selection of summer and winter school opportunities on this website.
Students may not be enrolled at UniSA during their international study or placement and if not must complete and submit an application for credit form (78kb PDF) signed by their Program Director on their return. This form is used to transfer credit and must be completed by the student.
The Hawke Ambassador Program
The Hawke Ambassador International Volunteer Experience Program differs from traditional international exchange or study abroad Programs. Students will be based within an international non-government organisation (NGO) in an overseas location and working as a volunteer, rather than undertaking formal study at an overseas university.
The School of International Studies and The Hawke Centre offer this program to students undertaking their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of the:
-
Bachelor of Arts (International Studies)
-
Bachelor of Applied Languages and Intercultural Communication
-
Double degree programs with International Studies, including International Business,
Management, Marketing, Journalism and Social Work and Social Policy
Mawson Lakes Fellowship Program
The Mawson Lakes Fellowship Program (50kb PDF) is sponsored by the South Australian Government, three of the State's universities (Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia) and MACAJ, a consortium of leading Japanese companies. It provides three scholarships each year for South Australian postgraduate students studying in the fields of urban innovation and innovative urban planning and development practice to study in Japan for six months. In turn, three Japanese students are given the opportunity to study in Adelaide.
Study tours
International Study tours are arranged by School or Academic staff. A group of students travel to the same location or institution as part of their UniSA program. If the Program Director agrees to give the student at least 4.5 units of credit and they meet the criteria (37kb PDF) students may be eligible to receive a travel grant of $1000 towards expenses.
Placements
Undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework) students undertaking an international placement as part of their studies may also be eligible for the travel grant if they meet the specified criteria. Placement students please ensure you read the note in the criteria document regarding required forms and insurance.
