Forensic and Applied Psychology Research Group

Dr Paul Whetham
I have a background in clinical psychology working with young offenders and church leaders.
I am currently a lecturer in counselling and ethical issues. My PhD research was titled 'Understanding the Relationships of Clergymen'. It highlighted the problem of loneliness and a lack of supports among many church leaders, making them potentially prone to burnout and sexual misconduct.

My research interests include:

  • Clergy misconduct
  • Values, ethics and malpractice among helping professionals
  • Loneliness and deaths in custody
