1.What is Finance One?

The University's main financial system is Finance One (a Technology One product). Finance One is comprised of a number of ledgers (eg ledgers for budget estimates, actual transactions and commitments). A separate ledger is used for each unique data set.

2. Is there training available for Finance One?

There are a variety of different Finance One training sessions available, with sessions being held most weeks.  A training schedule is available on the Finance Systems Home Page here.

If there are no sessions available that meet your requirements, or you have any questions about training in general please contact Daniela Kuckhahn by email or on 22175.

3. How do I get access to Finance One?

Depending on the type of access required there are usually three requirements before being given access;

Once you have completed all these requirements, you will be granted Finance One Access.

There are exceptions for users only wanting to Review or Approve AP invoices, and the requirements for these can be found on the APES Invoice Workflow FAQ page

4. My access is incorrect or requirements have changed, what do I need to do?

Contact the Financial Systems team at finrep@unisa.edu.au or on 22175 and we can advise on the correct action required to correct your access.

5. How do I get Finance One installed on my PC?

Finance One can be installed on you PC by your local IT support person.  Please raise a Helpdesk call to request the install.

6. I am getting an error in Finance One, What should I do?

First thing to check is that you don't have Finance One Pinned to your Windows start bar, as this can cause unusual errors.  If this is the case, remove the pinned link, close Finance One down, and reopen from the link on your desk top.

If you have tried this and are still receiving errors, contact the Finance Systems team either at finrep@unisa.edu.au or on 22175

7. I have previously attended training but would like a refresher course?

All Finance One users are welcome to attend any training session if they feel it would benefit them.

The schedule of current sessions is available here.  If you have any questions about training or would just like to discuss options, please contact Daniela Kuckhahn via email or on 22175.
