The Chancellor's Challenge Golf Classic was established in 2000, with the aim of increasing awareness of the University's activities and our fundraising goals. Since its inception, the Chancellor's Challenge Golf Classic has raised over $100,000.
This
year the Chancellor's Challenge will focus on the “2006
Library Collection”. Over the last 15 years, UniSA has emerged to become
a vibrant and innovative university, offering the state’s wide range of
programs to 33,000 students each year. We always try to inspire in each of
our students the self-motivation to read and research for them-selves so
that learning can become a lifelong process.
Naturally, our library is fundamental to this concept. Based at each of our five campuses, the library provides shelving for the 620,000 catalogued items available to students, alumni, commerce, industry and the wider community.
Each week, the library is visited on more than 50,000 occasions while the library website welcomes more than 50 million viewers a year. Added to this, our database, e-books and e-journals attract millions more.
Clearly, the veracity and currency of the information provided through these resources has a significant impact for those who depend upon it. That’s why as one of the states greatest educational resources, we are committed to constantly update, enrich and augment our collection.
For the first time in 2006, the library collection will be expanded to also include two new initiatives, Key Research Collections, specific to industry and also a Disability Equipment Grant Scheme, providing greater assistance to our disadvantaged students, who are restricted from using our library due to the impact of their disability.
In 2005 the Chancellor's Challenge raised over $17,000 for the ‘International Experience Travel Grants’ which provides financially disadvantaged students with the opportunity to complete part of their studies in another country. Such international experiences not only broaden the personal and academic development of the student, but also that of our community - with organisations and companies benefiting through the increased intellectual capital and the greater understanding of global economies and cultures.
