On 8 March 2011, over 70 guests attended the annual Foundation Committee Luncheon held in the Bradley Forum. The Foundation Committee, made up of Bruce Linn (Chair), Nigel Relph, Paul Beard and Paula Nagel, manages philanthropic monies received from individual and corporate donors to the University.

Paul Beard, UniSA's Chief Operating Officer, reported good results for the Foundation against a backdrop of strong donor support for UniSA and stabilising capital markets.

Chancellor Ian Gould addressed the Luncheon and welcomed incoming Foundation Committee members Nigel Relph and Paula Nagel. Nigel is the Pro Vice Chancellor International & Development replacing Dr Anna Ciccarelli. Paula is an external member of UniSA Council and works as an International Education Adviser. The Chancellor highlighted that 2012 represents UniSA's 21st anniversary providing an opportunity to reflect on how far UniSA has come and to prepare for the next phase in the University's growth and expansion.

A special presentation was provided by Professor Marianne Berry, Director Australian Centre for Child Protection, (pictured) in which she outlined her experiences as an academic working in the area of child protection. The Australian Centre for Child Protection was founded by the University of South Australia and the Australian Government in 2005 and since that time has become known nationally and internationally as a key driver in advancing innovation in child protection policy and practice.

The Luncheon also included an interview with recipients of the John and Johan Høj Rural Reconnect Scholarships. Students Melissa Brown and Tyron George, both from the mid-north of the state, spoke about their experiences and provided insight into the influence scholarships have on the lives of students.

The University is extremely grateful for the generosity of its many individual and corporate donors and thanks all those who attended the Foundation Luncheon.
