The scholarship will commence in 2012.

At an afternoon tea held on 29 November 2011, UniSA acknowledged the drive and passion of Professor Adey and Madge McGuire from Catherine House in establishing the scholarship.

Professor Adey, a former Pro-Vice Chancellor of UniSA, created a stunning limited edition series of sculptures (the 'Hat' series) to raise money for the scholarship.

Education as an enabler is a common theme driving both Kym Adey and Catherine House. It is Kym's belief in higher education as an effective means of enhancing life opportunities that led him to establish this new scholarship.

Catherine House provides supported accommodation and emergency housing to single adult women, unaccompanied by children, experiencing homelessness. It also offers a range of skill development, educational and job preparation courses each week to help 'educate women out of homelessness'.
