New social work scholarship to honour welfare pioneer

Woman working with boyThe Ian Cox Memorial Social Work Honours Scholarship has been established in memory of the late Ian Cox, who was Director-General of the Department of Community Welfare from 1970 to 1984. He was also an Associate Professor and lecturer in Social Work at UniSA from 1987 to 2000.

Families SA will provide $10,000 a year for the scholarship and the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy will pay the recipient's HECS fees in the year they receive the scholarship.

The scholarship will commence in 2012 and is available to full-time students undertaking the Honours year of a Bachelor of Social Work.

Further information on the scholarship, including selection criteria is available from the Program Support Officer, School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy, phone 8302 4960 or email swp.enquiries@unisa.edu.au.
