About Time, South Australia's History Festival
1 - 31 May

History SA presents About Time, a month long celebration of our diverse and remarkable history. The festival promotes the State's wonderful collections, places and stories through an amazing range of history-related activities.

National Sorry day
26 May

The Hawke Centre reaffirm the National Sorry Day acknowledgment. National Sorry Day is an annual day of commemoration and remembrance of all those who have been impacted by the government policies of forcible removal that have resulted in the Stolen Generations. More information.

The Blessing of the Aboriginal Flag
26 May, 9am

All are welcome to attend the Blessing of the Aboriginal Flag by the Rev. Sid Graham, at St David's Anglican Church, 494 Glynburn Road, Burnside. Refreshments afterwards in the Church Town Hall.

Reconciliation Week
27 May - 3 June

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is celebrated across Australia each year between 27 May and 3 June. The dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey - the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. Reconciliation SA: Annual Reconciliation week breakfast
27 May

Reconciliation SA celebrates Reconciliation week and the launch of their new website. The event also features a guest performance from the original "Sapphires" .This year's theme is: Let's talk recognition. Previous breakfasts have sold out so early registration is highly recommended.

The Catherine Helen Spence Memorial Scholarship
Applications open now - closing date 31 May

The purpose of this Scholarship (value up to $25,000) is to provide for a woman to undertake in Australia or overseas, the investigation of social problems and/or a study in the field of social sciences. The investigation or study should be relevant to social conditions in South Australia and be capable of being applied for the benefit of the state.

Appeal for the Solomon Islands

Inspired by the moving lecture: The rising sea levels of climate change - the challenge to prepare, delivered by Alice Aruhe'eta Pollard, and presented in the Hawke Centre program last year, Just Sustainability Australia are fundraising for those affected by climate change in the Solomon Islands. Presented by Associate Professor Mohamad Abdalla, Founding Director of the Griffith Islamic Research Unit and Director (Queensland node) of the National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies.
